The project is part of the intervention set of the Recovery Plan of Via Gallarate. The project involves the demolition of the previous kindergarten built in the early years 70 and now in a state of abandonment and to replace it with the construction of a structure compatible with the new needs of primary education. The functional system is characterized in plan by two side wings: one used for learning consisting of a single versatile and multifunctional environment thanks to sliding doors that can expand or limit the space and overlooks the external garden; one used for services. In the centre, however, the two wings are joined by an internal courtyard which divides the entrance and the rest area.
It was interesting to focus on the green part rather than on the built environment; We wanted to focus a lot on the design of green areas as a sensory learning path, where the child interacts with the natural world by inserting play elements and planting capable of creating a stimulating environment for the little ones. In this project, in addition to the design part in which I actively participated, especially on the theme of coatings and materials; it was interesting to explore the technical and structural side of the project, designing technical elements integrated within the architecture such as, for example, the staircase leading to the technical systems on the roof or the wooden system of mullions and transoms that make up the two facades. This project was therefore very interesting especially
on a technical and design level, increasing a sensitivity for how architecture can be experienced and the best way to do it.
